Micro-Finance Consultant & Trainer : S. Lalita RaoS. Lalita Rao has over 20 years’ experience in the banking industry, first at Industrial Development Bank of India [IDBI], and then at Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) from where she voluntarily retired as Assistant General Manager. At SIDBI she was handling portfolio of Micro Credit and Promotion & Development activities for NGOs/MFIs all over Karnataka.
On leaving SIDBI, she was engaged in freelance consultancy and worked with MFIs, NGOs, and small scale industries on diverse projects. She was also a visiting faculty for two management institutes in Bangalore.

Lalita Rao worked as a local consultant for Women’s World Banking [WWB] between April 2013 to April 2014. The assignment included supporting the WWB team in Diagnostic Study, Customer Research, on the field monitoring, support in Training, for the Individual Lending operations of an all India NBFC-MFI.
Lalita Rao served on the Enforcement Committee (EC) of Microfinance Institutions Network [MFIN ], as an Independent Member.
Enforcement CommitteeFor proper enforcement of the Code of Conduct and exercising oversight for adherence to regulatory norms prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India / Government / any other regulatory authority, MFIN has an Enforcement Committee (EC). The EC comprises of: Five (5) members, of which two (2) are elected from amongst the Authorized Representatives of Member institutions and Three (3) members, are independent persons of eminence.
Her previous assignment was at Ujjivan Financial Services P Ltd, as Head of Audit, where she incorporated learnings from Micro Save LPAT Toolkit into regular audits. She oversaw the internal audit function at Ujjivan, encompassing rigorous branch audits by audit staff spread across India, as well as audits of the HR and Administration Departments, by independent CA firms.
